\\MISS REPRESENTATION COMMUNITY MOVIE SCREENING & PANEL DISCUSSION

  • FRIDAY, September 9 [7 - 9 PM] Iao Theater - Sponsored event, FREE to anyone interested in the community

    • Sign up via Eventbrite
      • Because the movie is recommended for ages 14+, not all workshop participants are required to attend the community screening.

      • If you are interested in the documentary but are unable to attend this free event, you can also rent the movie for your home or classroom

 

\\TEDx WOMEN LIVE SCREENING: OCTOBER 27, 2016

\\1- DAY WORKSHOP FOR 7TH - 8TH GRADE GIRLS: FEBRUARY 25, 2017

[9 AM - 4 PM] University of Hawaii, Maui College

This workshop is also free to participants who apply and meet qualifications

  • 1-day workshop (food included)

  • Throughout the day, the girls will attend sessions based on the following topics:

    • Balancing your stress

    • Expressive Art

    • Exploring careers

    • Self Defense

    • Putting dreams into action

  •  In addition to learning important life skills, the girls will also leave with a variety of other resources and fun items, including a dream journal for keeping track of their goals and a certificate of participation during the celebration lunch.   

\\1- DAY WORKSHOP FOR 9TH & 10TH GRADE GIRLS: MARCH 11, 2017

[9 AM - 4 PM] @ University of Hawaii, Maui College

This workshop is also free to participants who apply, meet qualifications

  • 1-day workshop (food included)

  • Throughout the day, the girls will attend sessions based on the following topics:

    • Balancing your stress

    • Expressive Art

    • Exploring careers

    • Self Defense

    • Putting dreams into action

  •  In addition to learning important life skills, the girls will also leave with a variety of other resources and fun items, including a dream journal for keeping track of their goals and a certificate of participation during the celebration lunch. 

\\VOLUNTEER SERVICE: VARIOUS TIMES & PLACES

  • Each workshop participant will also be given opportunities to volunteer with  Soroptimist International of Maui club members in a variety of settings.  Each participant should expect to attend at least one volunteer event.

    • Building garden boxes - November 11 @ WHW

    • Bingo - November 12 @ Roselani Place retirement home

    • Food Kitchen service @ Ka Hale A Ke Ola

\\MENTORSHIP: BY APPOINTMENT

  • Each workshop participant will also be matched with a community member to provide a one-on-one mentorship opportunity - mentorship relationships can and many do continue after event participation
