SI Maui believes we can influence young women in our communities to attain the education and have the life skills they need to realize their dreams.

The goal of this project is to empower young women (7th-10th grade) and support their future educational and career success through exposure to existing gender biases, self esteem building, education and skill building, enhancement of life skills such as safety and stress management, mentoring and building community connections, and volunteer opportunities.

Project Objectives:

  • Increase the number of young women facing barriers to college attendance being mentored within our communities

  • Increase participant’s interest and confidence in pursuing a college education

  • Improve participant’s self esteem, self and community efficacy

  • Expand participant’s support system and community connections

  • Increase participant’s knowledge of health and safety skills and techniques

Cost:

  • FREE - all events are free to participants

The DIBI project follows in the footsteps of the previous SI Maui "Girl Power" project.

We would also like to invite Girl Power participants to act as youth mentors for DIBI.
